Martin 2518 DMX Controller

The Martin 2518 DMX Controller, also known as the Baby Martin, is a very small lighting desk.

It is capable of controlling 72 DMX channels, upto 36 at a time via its 6 faders. It can often be found attached to architectural washes parked around Venue One or controlling the Dimmers if only House Lights are required.

Quick Start

The Baby Martin takes an IEC input for power. It has a 3-pin DMX output on the rear, so typically a 3-5 pin adapter will be required.

After powering on, press the Blackout button twice - the 7-segment display should stop flashing. Select the group of channels you wish to control with the DMX Channel buttons, and then set the faders as appropriate.

Channels on different channel banks can be controlled without changing the last set by disabling the last channel bank then selecting the next channel bank.

Programming

Scene Programming

Set lighting state, as described above.

Press the Store button. The display will begin to flash. Select the Scene Bank by using the Up and Down arrow buttons beside the display, then press one of the 6 Scene buttons above the faders. The display will stop flashing.

To recall a scene, choose the Scene Bank with the Up and Down arrows and press the Scene button above the faders.

Flash Programming

The desk allows for one Flash State which can be recalled at any time, regardless of which Scene Bank or faders are active.

The procedure is as above - but instead of selecting a Scene Bank and pressing a Scene key, the MIDI key is used.

Recalling this scene is as simple as pressing the MIDI key at any time.

Deleting Scenes

To delete a Scene:

  • Disable All Channel Banks
  • Set All Faders to 10
  • Enable All Fader Banks
  • Set All Faders to 0
  • Press Store
  • Choose the correct Scene Bank and press the correct Scene Key
