Dimmers
A device which varies the amount of power provided to a (generic) fixture to vary its brightness. Controlled by DMX signals from a lighting desk. See the main article "Dimmers" for more information.
DMX
Digital Multiplex, the protocol used to send data to and from intelligent lighting and dimmers. See the main article "DMX" for more information.
Grelco
A device which allows two plugs - often 15A for stage lights - to be connected to one circuit. They are wired in parallel to split the current but maintain voltage. The name derives from that of the original manufacturer of such devices. See also Trelcos.
Gel
A price of coloured plastic placed in front of a light to change its colour.
Partition
The Partition is the removable barrier which separates 601 from The Stage. The partition is locked in place using the Partition Key (a large Alan Key), which is stored at reception.
Safety Chain
A metal chain, typically either chain-links or bonded cores, which are designed to "catch" hanging equipment if their primary hanging mechanism - eg clamp - fails.
Trelco
A device which allows three plugs - often 15A for stage lights - to be connected to one circuit. They are wired in parallel to split the current but maintain voltage. The name derives from that of the original manufacturer of similar two-socket devices called Grelcos.
